(03/04/26) Update:
The recalculation of the stats has been globally applied.
To maintain a fair and balanced ecosystem, a global recalculation of all user statistics and contribution values will be initiated. This will take place in the following days.
- Most users should notice slight increase or decrease in their levels based on games that they have given.
- Current giveaways wouldn't be affected much, as the anti-abuse system we have right now is applying price changes for active giveaways.
- Each user will be able to track any change to their price history on https://steamdrops.net/history
Example of price reduction detection
Reasoning for Recalculation
In the early stages of the steam drops, the system lacked automated pricing detection across the 30+ key shops and key resellers. This allowed certain users to exploit the contribution factor by utilizing low-priced or "shovelware" titles to artificially inflate their levels. To ensure that users who contribute legitimate, high-value games are not overshadowed by these exploits, all historical contributions will be retroactively assessed using the current value calculations with diminishing cuts included in it.
Impact on User Levels
Every user's total contribution value will be recalculated based on the true market value of the games they have provided. Consequently, users whose levels were inflated by low-value games will see a reduction in their total contribution value and a corresponding level adjustment.
Going forward
The users who still manage to abuse the levels with some undetected shovelware games will have their stats manually reviewed. The stats will be recalculated after shovelware games have been price-reducted.
Level Requirement Adjustments
To offset the global reduction in inflated contribution values and decrease the overall difficulty of progression moving forward, the required gift values for leveling up have been permanently reduced. The new thresholds will be applied during the recalculation process:
Percentage Changes (Lower Tiers 1-5)
- Level 1: No change ($10.00)
- Level 2: -16.67% ($30.00 → $25.00)
- Level 3: -50.00% ($100.00 → $50.00)
- Level 4: -40.00% ($250.00 → $150.00)
- Level 5: -40.00% ($500.00 → $300.00)
Complete Tier Adjustments
| Level | Old Requirement | New Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | $10.00 | $10.00 |
| Level 2 | $30.00 | $25.00 |
| Level 3 | $100.00 | $50.00 |
| Level 4 | $250.00 | $150.00 |
| Level 5 | $500.00 | $300.00 |
| Level 6 | $1,000.00 | $500.00 |
| Level 7 | $2,000.00 | $1,000.00 |
| Level 8 | $3,000.00 | $2,000.00 |
| Level 9 | $4,000.00 | $3,000.00 |
| Level 10 | $5,000.00 | $5,000.00 |
Hello! I giveawayed manmy good games, not trash, for example: Men of War: Assault Squad - Game of the Year Edition - now it is gived zero points. You take my points back? For trash games it is ok, but not for good games gived people +1 or collectible cards, it is not fair, I am not farmer of a keys, all taken by hard work. It is not fair... Can you keep people points?
Some people not liked SteamGifts becuase they always take back points and dicrease level. Maybe you need to be different from this?
lol bro is crying that he can't abuse the system and spam the giveaway section with his hentai shovelware slop anymore
If it increases the number of good games played, that would be great.
Yes, it may be shocking, but it is probably the right decision. The site has just launched, so there will be changes. All these updates should restore balance.
-
It is also necessary that the system also takes into account the price of delisted games.
Right now, they're all priced at $0.00. So, the choice will always be in favor of a low-quality game like "Hentoy Ebaka Edition XD" for $3.99, since "Marvel's Avengers The Definitive Edition" costs $0.00. -
You can also raise your level by creating private giveaways. How to track abuse in private giveaways? Perhaps it would be right for private giveaways not to be counted in the level.

Games which are no longer in steam store are usually fetched as 0.00 and/or are disabled that's why it would be nice for users to report such games to be re-valued.

Interesting to see how it looks when the rebalancing update rolls out. I'm guessing pretty soon?
